We design and manufacture products used by the electric utility
industry, manufacturers of various electrical products (such as transformers and electric
motors), and professional electricians. We invite you to examine our offerings and provide
us with any comments or questions you
may have. We are always willing to discuss custom products to suit your specific
requirements.
The pages listed at left break down our product line into manageable
chunks. First, we list our line of electricity meter test
equipment. This equipment is used to verify the accuracy of meters before they are
used to measure energy consumption.
Our transformer test equipment performs a similar accuracy-measuring
function. It is used to check the accuracy of transformers which are used to supply
electricity meters. These transformers are a part of the measurement system, and, as such,
their accuracy should be known as well.
Our precision transformers have many uses. Generally, they are used
to extend the range of a measuring device, such as a voltmeter or an ammeter. Knopp
precision transformers are also used by manufacturers of distribution transformers and
electric motors to measure the electrical losses in those devices.
Knopp maintains precision reference transformers which are traceable
to the United States' National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). We offer
NIST-traceable calibrations of voltage and current transformers. Our limits are 14,400
Volts and 5,000 Amperes.
We manufacture passive burdens, both American National
Standards (ANSI) and International Electrical Commission (IEC). These burdens are used in
transformer testing to simulate the load which will eventually be connected to the
transformer. Knopp burdens are passive in design which assures high stability and low
drift over time.
We also offer a few other products which have been developed through
requests from our customers. One such product is our Type CL-6 Loading
Transformer. This
unit is used as a current source and can produce up to 1,000 Amperes at 5 Volts.
Finally, we manufacture three instruments used by electricians. These
include our K-60 Voltage Tester (used to determine the presence or absence of
voltage in electrical systems up to 600 volts) and our
K-3 Phase Sequence Indicator (used to determine phase sequence in three-phase systems).
We also manufacture the 4E2-1 Voltage Tester used by
rapid transit districts to detect the presence, or absence, of voltage (up to
1500 volts) in the third rail of transit systems.
Our products are manufactured to the highest quality standards. Go
ahead and compare, we're sure you'll be impressed.
